Sharon Overmars, the artist behind June20, was born and raised in the Netherlands. Her work is a unique expression of color, emotion, and identity, influenced by diverse elements from the world around her.

Drawing inspiration from African art, Mexican folklore, and Greek mythology, Sharon’s work is primarily fueled by her inner quest for happiness and harmony.

From Interior Design to Fine Art

Before fully dedicating herself to painting, Sharon worked for years as a freelance interior designer under the name Noubia Interieurontwerp. This experience in the design world has given her art a distinct dynamic, with a strong focus on visual aesthetics and deeper meaning.

Her paintings are an expression of her personal journey of self-discovery. She refers to her subjects as ‘shapeshifters’—mystical figures that seem to exist across different dimensions, each with its own unique identity. The vibrant colors and refined details in her work provide a sense of depth, while the emotion embedded in each brushstroke invites reflection.

Collaborations and Inspiring Projects

With her background in interior design, Sharon frequently collaborates with other designers and interior professionals. She has worked with renowned names such as Stock Dutch Design, Sies Home, Atelier Nicole Dohmen, Willemijn de Leeuw, Wendy Verhaegh Interior Design, and Stekkie Amsterdam, seamlessly integrating her art into stylish interiors.

In January 2024, a new milestone in her career was reached with the launch of her first wallpaper collection, developed in collaboration with Catchii Homeware, at Paris Deco Off. This debut marked her work’s growing presence not only on canvas but also in the world of interiors.

Living by the Sea

Sharon lives with her husband, two sons, and their pets in Castricum, a picturesque village by the sea in the Netherlands. The proximity to the ocean plays an important role in her work, which often conveys a sense of freedom, movement, and energy.
